ADRA Professional Leadership Institute (APLI)
Purpose

To strengthen staff in ADRA network offices to the highest technical and professional standards and to provide ADRA with a recognized leadership position among international NGOs.

A Brief History
The ADRA Professional Leadership Institute (APLI) was established by ADRA International in 1996 to provide ADRA staff with professional development opportunities.

The initial phase of the APLI was directed at providing graduate-level management training for ADRA staff in partnership with Andrews University. A Master’s Degree in International Development was offered cooperatively beginning in 1996. That program continues under the direct management of Andrews University.

Later, ADRA expanded the purpose of the APLI sessions to promote organizational excellence through a competency-based curriculum that reflects international standards and professional benchmarks. Courses offered include Finance, Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, Food Security, Marketing & Communications, Security, Health, Education, Economic Development, and Emergency Management. The most recent course offering is that of Leadership & Management.
